Millipore is a multinational company focused on bioscience and biopharmaceuticals. Its products, services and equipment are used to help discover, develop and manufacture new biotherapeutics, to purify beverages, and to improve laboratory productivity. You would find Millipore products in most laboratories, biotech plants and pharmaceutical plants you would visit anywhere in the world. Revenues for Millipore were $883 million in 2004, with more than half of those revenues outside the U.S. Millipore has had a strong presence in France since 1964 and now has about 900 employees in France located in St. Quentin and in Molsheim. One of Millipore's three major "center of excellence" manufacturing plants is located in Molsheim, France.
Thomas Anderson, a new board member for the FACC and VP of Corporate Communications at Millipore noted: "I'm interested in the chamber for two reasons: my company has strong French roots and a French presence, and I want to foster, celebrate and build those French connections; second, I'm a Francophile with an avid affection for French film, a wife French-Canadian, and a Croix de Guerre on the wall of my office, given to my father for his service to France at Omaha Beach in Normandy."
Anderson has worked at Millipore since 1978 in a different divisional, international and corporate communication roles. As VP of Corporate Communications at Millipore he works on branding, investor, customer and internal communications programs and leads the Company's Internet and E-business initiatives. He was editor and co-author of the first business book on Java, "Java for Business," Wiley, 1997, and was a contributor to The Internet Strategy Handbook" Harvard Business Press, 1996. He is a frequent speaker at BU and BC MBA classes on e-business, and is currently a company advisor to the BU Asian MBA program. Anderson has an M.A. in English Literature from Boston College and a B.A. in chemistry from the College of the Holy Cross.
