VP and General Manager of Genzyme Cardiovascular

Frederic Chereau is the VP and General Manager of Genzyme Cardiovascular, a business unit within Genzyme Corporation commercializing a hypercholesterolemia product (Cholestagel), developing late clinical stage gene therapy program in Peripheral Arterial Disease and various early stage programs.  In addition to his role as VP & General Manager of Genzyme Cardiovascular, Frederic also serves as the Chief Operating Officer of MG Biotherapeutics LLC, a Genzyme and Medtronic joint-venture formed to develop cellular therapies for cardiac repair.

Prior to this role, Frederic held various positions within Genzyme with growing responsibilities.  He started his Genzyme career in 1999 in France as a Product Manager of the Surgical Products' Division.  In 2000, he was appointed to take on a broad European Marketing role within the Cardiovascular Business Unit.  During this time, Frederic was appointed as CEO of Myosix SA, a cell therapy company based in France with an ongoing close relationship with Genzyme Cardiovascular’s cell therapy programs, where he served from 2002-2005.  He relocated to the United States in 2005 as Senior Director of Cardiovascular and was promoted to Vice President and General Manager of Cardiovascular Business Unit, in November 2006.

Prior to Genzyme, Frederic started his career as a sales representative and a product manager for a French medical device retail company in the hemodialysis and blood transfusion field.

Frederic holds an MSc in Physics from Paris University, a Bachelors degree from the La Rochelle Business School and a MBA from INSEAD.
