Painting by Rob Gonsalves
Presentation by Professor Yves Gourinat, Université de Toulouse
Since 2003, Yves Gourinat has been a Full Professor for Solid Mechanics at SupAéro, where he chairs a team of 85 people. Professor Gourinat is the founder of the group of nonlinear dynamics and biodynamics. From 2012 to 2016 he was the Director of the Aerospace Doctoral School (ED467-AA, 59 PhD students). Professor Gourinat is now the Deputy Director of Institut Clément Ader (UMR CNRS 5312-ICA, 237 researchers in mechanics).
As a specialist in dynamics, he is associated with the Occitanian University Hospital Center and human biology laboratories, for a series of PhDs devoted to medical and bioinspired applications of Aerospace Science.
Previously, he was an Engineer on Aircraft Structures for 7 years (Aerospatiale Aircraft, now Airbus SAS) for A340 and ATR72 certification. And for 10 years Associate Professor for Launch Vehicle Dynamics & Manned Spaceflight (ENSICA).
Professor Gourinat is the author of 229 referenced scientific contributions (including 132 international and 63 publications) and holder of several distinctions, including the FJ Malina Astronautics Medal of the International Astronautical Federation.
