Offshore Wind Power Conference took place on October 28, 2015 at Fort Point Room, Atlantic Wharf in Boston, MA
Watch the video produced by the French American Chamber of Commerce, New England (FACCNE) here
The Federal government, through the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), has permitted and pre-qualified the Rhode Island and Massachusetts Wind Energy Areas for the first phases of offshore wind development by three lease-holding companies - Offshore Wind: Massachusetts DONG Energy, and OffshoreMW - through a competitive bidding process.
In the coming years, thousands of megawatts of generation capacity will retire due to aging infrastructure, inefficiency, or regulation, creating a gap in the Massachusetts energy market. As Massachusetts grapples with a complex set of energy challenges, questions are being asked about diversifying current energy mix while reducing the levels of carbon, sulfur and nitrogen that are produced and put in the atmosphere.
The Panelists were:
Thomas Brostrøm, General Manager North America | DONG Energy
Matthew Morrissey, Executive Director | Offshore Wind: Massachusetts
Derek Stilwell, Director, Sales and Tendering | Alstom Wind, NA
The conference was attended by 105 guests and generated positive interaction among the audience and the speakers.
