As Executive Editor at Boston Business Journal, Doug Banks oversees the newsroom and writes the daily "5 Things You Need to Know" news roundup.

He first joined the Boston Business Journal in 1998. He has been Executive Editor since 2015.

Doug has won numerous journalism awards, has been a guest anchor at New England Cable News, and an adjunct faculty member at Boston University, Emerson College and Suffolk University, among other Massachusetts colleges. In addition to the Boston Business Journal, he was an editor at Fast Company magazine in 2000-2001 and was editor and publisher of Mass High Tech from 2005 to 2012. 

He has an MFA degree in nonfiction writing from the University of Pittsburgh and a bachelor's degree in journalism and English from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
