French Theater Project | Communication and Marketing Support
"On April 5-6, 2024, new Boston start-up and FACCNE member The French Theater Project presented its inaugural production Tu seras un homme papa at Huntington Theatre in downtown Boston. Writer / actor Gaël Leiblang gave three arresting performances of this one-man show in its original French (with English captions), earning a standing ovation from each 100-person audience. Saturday night’s performance was followed by a lively talk-back reception where Gaël answered audience questions. Earlier in the week Gaël also visited the International School of Boston and the French Library, where he shared insights into his career path from sports journalist to film-maker to stage actor.
French Theater Project founder David Miller says “I began toying with the idea of presenting live French theater in Boston after attending Festival d’Avignon in 2022. I went back the next summer with the goal of scouting productions to present in 2025, but as soon as I saw Tu seras un homme papa everything accelerated. Over a cup of coffee, Gaël convinced me that we could pilot the concept of French theater in Boston this spring. By January 2024 I had created my business, become a FACCNE member, talked the idea through with the French Consulate’s Cultural Attachée, the French Library and Boston Accueil. Everyone I spoke with about the project at the FACCNE annual membership meeting was universally enthusiastic. The next month I began hiring staff and professional services. FACCNE introduced me to a network of professionals for legal and visa help, and publicized the show on all their communication channels. Everyone in the French community of Boston has been enormously supportive of our business."
