Position Purpose:

As the Government Funding Lead at Veolia North America, you will be responsible for leading and managing government funding development for our three (3) core business activities in the United States. As a key member of the Development, Strategy, and Innovation team, you will be responsible for identifying, leading and managing government funding opportunities that align with Veolia’s business portfolio. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including our business development & sales, our finance and technical & performance teams to identify and secure funding opportunities.

 

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to pursue federal funding, including grants, tax credits, and cooperative agreements.
  • Collaborate with VNA’s technical and business development teams to quickly identify business opportunities eligible for funding.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to teams regarding funding opportunities and requirements.
  • Identify and research federal government funding programs and opportunities that align with Veolia's operational and business development objectives.
  • Coordinate and track the preparation and submission of high-quality proposals; monitor and track the status of submitted applications, providing updates to top management.
  • Manage external consultants, as needed.
  • Stay abreast of changes in federal funding policies and initiatives relevant to Veolia's business portfolio and strategy.
  • All other activities to achieve business objectives.

Work Environment:

  • Occasional travel as needed.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Political Science or Engineering related field.
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in fund management, program development, or grants management, or government operations.
  • Previous experience in grant development within the hazardous waste, water, and/or energy sector(s) is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local funding agencies and RFP analysis.
  • Extensive track record of project leadership with a proven ability to track, prioritize and drive multiple concurrent projects to success.
  • Proven ability to be flexible and adaptive to changing business environment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Detail-oriented strategic thinker with analytical problem-solving capabilities with a proven ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive data and information.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to create effective relationships, influence and collaborate internally and externally at all organizational levels.
  • Commercial skills to understand customer’s needs, Veolia’s positioning and projects.
  • Ability to take initiative, recommend improvements and make fair and consistent decisions that align with organizational and strategy and values.
  • Excellent demonstrated project management skills.
  • Successfully navigate between tactical and strategic objectives.
  • Ability to understand financial models (cost models, budgets etc.) is a plus.
